Choice lists

A choice list prevents people from entering the same information in different ways. For an “Audience type” field, you could offer “General public”, “Professionals” and “School groups”. The same list can supply several fields.

You need permission to manage choice lists.

Prepare the list

  1. Open Settings → Organisation → Choice lists.
  2. Select New list and enter the List name, such as “Audience type”.
  3. Enable Give values a colour if coloured chips would help people recognise them.
  4. Select Create.
  5. In this list, select Add a value, enter “General public”, then select Create.
  6. Add the remaining values in the same way. If colours are enabled, choose one for each value.

Reorder values using their drag handle; on a phone, use the Move up and Move down arrows.

Connect the list to a field

Open Fields settings for the relevant item, then Add a field. Choose Type → Choice list and select your list under Choice list.

For example, add “Audience type” to event fields. Creating the list alone does not create that field.

Change values already in use

Renaming a value changes its label wherever it is used. The usage count helps you assess the reach of the change.

Deleting a value also removes it from items that had selected it. The confirmation shows how many are affected. A list used by a field cannot be deleted; some lists supplied by the app are also protected.
